Lucid Psychotherapy and Counselling has a commitment to making our services affordable to those with limited financial means. To achieve this we set aside some spaces in our practice for reduced fee paying clients. Please don't hesitate to ask us about this either during your session or by giving us a call. We'll do our best to help make therapy affordable to those in need. Also, we are able to assist with government subsidised appointments for psychotherapy/counselling to those who are eligible (see below).
Sessions are for 60mins. We also offer sessions of 90mins or 2hrs. If you would like to arrange a longer session, please let us know.
Making counselling affordable - subsidies
We believe that counselling and psychotherapy should be available to everyone who has a need. If $135 is going to be hard to find for a session with us you can see if Work and Income can partially fund your counselling sessions. You may be entitled to the disability allowance of up to $62.37 per session - you don't need to be receiving a benefit to qualify for this.
About Work and Income's Disability Allowance The Disability Allowance is a weekly payment for people of all ages who have a disability or ongoing health condition and need help with the additional costs directly associated with that condition. It’s available to people who qualify for a Community Services Card, including those on a benefit or people who are working. There is an income test. An application can also be made on behalf of a child if they’re aged 18 years or under and financially dependent on the person who’s making the application.
To qualify for Disability Allowance the person must:
have a disability or health condition that is likely to last at least six months
have regular, ongoing costs because of a disability which aren’t fully covered by another agency
be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
normally live in New Zealand and intend to stay here
meet the income test.
Ask Work and Income (WINZ) for the necessary paperwork, which your counsellor and your GP will need to sign off on. To go to the relevant Work and Income webpage, click here or call Work and Income on 0800 559 009. Otherwise, click the button below to start the application online.
